Design Thinking Boot Camp: An Introduction
Join mindSpark Learning and Design Thinking expert Ellen Deutscher for a highly interactive two-day session on Design Thinking as it relates to education.

Wednesday, April 19 & Thursday, April 20
9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Held at thinkSpace:
455 S. Pierce Street, Lakewood, CO 80226

Design Thinking (DT) is a methodology used by designers to solve complex problems. It draws upon logic, imagination, intuition, and systematic reasoning, to explore possibilities of what could be—and to create desired outcomes that benefit the end user. DT has moved into the educational space, supporting teacher and student creativity, critical thinking and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Ellen Deutscher will facilitate this hands-on session. Ellen is a Design Thinking and Creativity Consultant with over 20 years of experience teaching public school in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a Teacher Coach for the IDEO Teachers Guild and works as an advisor/collaborator with David Kelley (co-founder of IDEO, and Stanford d.school) in the K12 space.
This introductory workshop is intended for learners from all grade levels and specialty areas. It will include a fun, fast paced introduction to the DT process and mindsets with a focus on implementing DT in the classroom and a variety of learning environments. Participants will have the opportunity to complete a full cycle of the DT process including “empathy interviews,” fast paced ideation, and rapid prototyping. On the second day, participants will take a deeper dive by participating in a longer challenge in order to gain further understanding of the process. Participants will have the opportunity to work in small groups and/or individually to determine the best approach to implementing DT in their own classrooms and learning environments, and will leave the day with concrete implementable ideas in the form of Ellen's Design Dots.
$125 (total for two days, includes lunch)
